Day 1 – Monday, August 27, 2012
This morning we’ll travel to the Thousand Islands Seaway region. We’ll tour with Uncle Sam’s Boats and be awed by the beauty and grace of the St. Lawrence River as we pass each island. Some of them are primitive and some house palatial homes. We’ll be stopping at Boldt Castle, a 120-room Rhineland-style structure that was started as a token of a man’s love for his wife. Construction came to an abrupt end however, when Boldt’s wife died suddenly. We’ll visit Heart Island for a tour and shop in Alexandria Bay. In the late afternoon we’ll head to the city of Kingston for a three-night stay.
Day 2 – Tuesday, August 28, 2012
Today we’ll have a local guide for an exploration of Kingston. We’ll have time to shop downtown, and this afternoon we’ll visit the Belleview House which was the home of Sir John A McDonald; the builder of the Canadian railway. We’ll visit the historic St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, St. Mary’s Cathedral and other historic buildings.
Day 3 – Wednesday, August 29, 2012
This morning we’ll visit the fort Henry National Historic Site and the Military Communications and Electronics Museum. This afternoon we’ll travel to the Thousand Islands Playhouse to see Little Shop of Horrors by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. After the show we’ll head back to Kingston for our candlelight dinner at Fort Henry and the World Heritage Sunset Ceremonies.
